Ruth Gyuse Architecture Design is a small architecture firm based out of Brooklyn. We specialize in mid to high end residential construction in the NY Tristate area. We are a minority run/ woman owned start up firm, with a small close knit staff. The office currently works in a combination of remote, in office and on site configurations and requires flexibility to work in all three work environments.
This is a great position for a self-starter who is interested in being part of shaping the interior design language of the firm. Job Description: Drafting and assisting with drawing sets for residential and commercial construction. Assisting with preparation of Landmarks and NYC Dept of Building filing drawings. Assisting with construction sketches during Construction.
Drafting and developing drawings for custom built in millwork, furniture and other aspects of interior architecture and design. Excellent knowledge of Autocad is required as well as a good eye for creating legible and clear drawings. This is a key aspect of this position.
Research for building codes, construction systems, and assisting Project team with problem solving at the drawing and construction phases.
On site visits to job sites before and during construction. Assisting with photography, site documentation, measuring, writing meeting minutes, and follow up with contractors, subconsultants and vendors as relates to construction administration. This is a key aspect of this position.
Assisting with client presentation materials including 3d renderings, 2d design drawings, materials and idea boards. Ability to source precedent images to articulate design concepts. Providing basic in-house 3d modeling is a key aspect of this position as well as working with an offsite renderer for finished client presentations.
Providing project support including purchasing, managing purchase orders, tracking receipts, returns and exchanges. This is a key aspect of this position.
Assisting with furniture plans and layouts, sourcing, and specifications for fabrics, materials, finishes and furniture. Knowledge of NYC design sources is a plus. Comfort and ease going to NYC showrooms and the ability to manage time well and provide multiple options for client consideration. This is a key aspect of this position.
Assisting with maintaining and updating the in-office materials library. Managing and cataloging materials selections for each project, preparing material schedules, and filing projects after completion.
Assisting the Principal with direct Client interactions including materials and furniture presentations. Daily interactions with clients for purchasing, scheduling and providing samples. This position requires a clear communicator with the ability to manage multiple projects and clients at the same time.
Qualifications: Minimum Bachelor of Architecture or MA in Interior Design. A masters is preferred
3 to 5 years minimum experience in an Architecture or Interior Design firm. Prior summer internship experience will be considered
This position is Full Time at 40 hours a week plus overtime. Starting salary is $68,000 – $74,000, commensurate with experience.
Proficiency with Autocad, Sketchup, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Office Suite are all required. Proficiency with Rhino and other 3D modeling software is a plus.
Expertise in drafting is required. Ability to hand sketch is a plus.
Excellent organizational ability and attention to detail.
Ability to work on multiple projects at once and prioritize responsibilities.
Experience working on high end residential projects in NYC is a plus.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Clarity writing emails and making calls.
Interest or active pursuit of architectural licensure is a plus.
Must be already based in New York City metro area.
